This September, ILLUME will transform Elleven2 Gallery, at 78th St Studios, into a radiant, sensory playground where art doesn’t just hang on the walls—it glows, shifts, pulses, and comes alive. The opening event will be a party you won’t want to miss! The exhibition curated by artists Bili Kribbs and Chris Dewald, merges traditional artistry with programmed lighting technology for an unforgettable, fully immersive experience. Joining Kribbs and Dewald are contributing artists Chris Goff, Kevin Anderson, Tim Carmany, Billy “the Robot” McKay, and Dave Witzke—each bringing their own unique vision to this collaborative spectacle.

Enhancing the visual spectacle is original music and sound design by Ohio artists Jeffrey Gowins and Adam Kocher, whose atmospheric compositions and immersive audio elements help guide visitors through the emotional and conceptual journey of the show. A Bombardment of the Senses,Every piece in ILLUME is more than meets the eye. Blacklight reveals hidden details invisible under standard lighting, while integrated LED systems give each work motion, depth, and life—programmed to shift in sync with a curated music soundtrack. Lighting patterns are constantly changing, ensuring that no two moments inside the gallery feel the same. “Art exhibits can and should have the same energy as a great party,” says Kribbs. “We wanted to create an environment where people don’t just observe art—they feel it.” The Story Behind the GlowBeyond the visual spectacle, ILLUME carries a deeper narrative. Inspired by the lightning-flash moments of creativity that strike during life’s storms, Kribbs’ vision explores how light serves as a metaphor for inspiration, understanding, and bravery. The exhibit invites guests to embrace the “lightbulb moment”—that spark of an idea that shines brightest when we push past fear and try something new.
